Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
Possible your clutch is just that worn that the rivets are grinding the flywheel.

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
Did you do a new pilot bushing as well? What about the pressure plate? What all is new And used underneath?

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
Could possibly be clutch chatter if the pilot is worn. If you replace it find an oilite type bushing

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
i also forgot to add with the clutch out at idle you can look at the clutch fork and it vibrates very bad and so does the clutch pedal

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
Here's a couple of thoughts. First about the pilot bushing. You can buy an actual bearing for this application. GM used them in the early diesel trucks. Second, with your noise problem. Two thoughts, first is your throwout bearing may have crapped out. Second would be that some of the clutch cover bolts may be coming loose.

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
The throw out bearing should stay on the clutch fork unless it pulled out when you pulled the trans. You have the fork clips in the inside if the groove of the throw out bearing?

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
I agree with your thoughts on a bushing. I hadn't heard of the bearings giving problems though. Anyway lets get this truck fixed!!!!

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
So an input bearing or throwout bearing failure I presume?

Re: Grinding noise in bellhousing ):
throwout bearing was fine, so i guess it was the input. i dont know much about transmissions this was my first truck and my first engine swap/rebuild and so on, but heres the pieces we found
