Need New Hood Hinges
So my hood came up Friday morning after a late night tinkering I forgot to latch hood all the way. It came up about 30mph. After lots of tire smoke hood was put back down after quick look see for damage. My driver side hinge now has some play in it so it won't allow hood to sit where it was before. I've checked hood and fender and all seems good there. The "play" seems to be in the hinge pivots and I just assume that it needs replaced. So......where do I get the best stock replacement hinge? I was just gonna order from LMC. I did do some searching through older posts and got here or there answers. Also, should I reuse or get new hinge springs when replacing hinges? Thanks.

Re: Need New Hood Hinges
Since you are a member, I would post a WTB in the parts board. I myself would prefer a good clean set of originals before I would buy aftermarket. That is just my preference.
I had the same issue on a 55 Chevy I once owned. It would not be a bad idea to loop a piece of cable around the latch to keep the hood from escaping in the future. I used a 24 inch 3/8 cable with hook and latches on the ends. Even a cheap tie down would be better than nothing. Good luck |

Re: Need New Hood Hinges
Be careful if you buy aftermarket springs. I bought a set that ruined my NOS hood hinges because the springs were so strong.

Re: Need New Hood Hinges
I've read that about the new springs being real strong. I figured I'd just get new hinges and use old springs.?
