Rotor replacement
The rotor in my distributor is pretty corroded. How do change it? Do I have to change the whole shaft out or what?
I noticed this when I chaged my cap out last week. BTW, It's an 87 w/ TBI and electronic distributor.

2 screws on the rotor, and it comes off. no big deal.

you definately do not have to replace the whole shaft. It will either unscrew or just pull off. Get a new one from the parts store, and and new cap too and swap em out

I don't see any screws. I took the cap off and there is a white looking shaft with a metal tab coming off of it.
Looking down.

*DOH* you have TBI, sorry, i forgot about that. just pull up on the rotor, it may be a little sticky, but it jsut pulls right off. it would be the whole white plastic part. the bronze piece you were talking about is molded into it.

I'm pretty sure it just pulls off the shaft but I'm not dead positive.
Best bet to be sure is get your new one at the auto parts first and take a look at it while your still at the parts counter. If you can't tell for sure if it just pulls off or has screws to hold it on just by looking ask the guy at the counter. He will steer you in the right direction.

Yeah, I got it. The bottom part cracked but I got it all off. The new one slipped right on. Thanks.
