That is actually the bed that came on Mexican produced trucks.

Re: Sweet truck i saw Cozumel, MX
Yup, its the original bed. I'd like to find one of these around here, I just want one because they're different. You don't see these everyday.

Re: Sweet truck i saw Cozumel, MX
Is it just me or is the wheelbase shorter on this truck than an American shortbox. At first glance the box from the side looks like its from an early (70's) Ford Ranger truck. Its cool looking though.

Re: Sweet truck i saw Cozumel, MX
Didn't know about the beaches. Was there with my wife for just an afternoon. Enough time to by some trinkets and some dos XX's.
I didn't get a chance to snap an inside picture of the bed but the wheel hub runs the entire length of the bed. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Sweet truck i saw Cozumel, MX
Very clean truck. It's interesting how it has side marker lights on the front, but not on the bed sides. South America is known to have slightly different versions of American and Japanese vehicles. For example, they have a 70's version of the Toyota Land Cruiser called the Toyota Banderante that is very similar to the version we are used to seeing, but somewhat different

Re: Sweet truck i saw Cozumel, MX
It's almost too bad you couldn't be a true creeper and take pictures of the inside. I studied up on these trucks and can not seem to see if the insides are different. I hear tell that the dashboards are out of the '66 or it may have been just the Brazilian ones. I do want to see though, a '66 dash in my '72... sweet!

Re: Sweet truck i saw Cozumel, MX
These trucks all had 67/68 style hubcaps and steering wheels. The dash was no different except for gauges in Spanish. There were no longbeds,V8s,or automatics, and all were base models. Not sure on all,but this one has 16" wheels. I "think" the all did. The side markers weren't required in Mexico,so the beds that were designed in '67 never got them. There was no choice on the front when the fenders changed.
