Air baffle.
As you can tell I'm messing around with the truck today.
Anyway, I was going to trim the air baffle. The part that connects the air tube to the radiator support. Anyone done this? I don't think that any water would make its way up the air tube. Do ya'll think it would help or hurt the most?

I cut the block plate off and havent had any problems.
If you are going to do that you should remove the inner screen filter too (in the air cleaner). Be ready to adjust your idle speed, removing the screen will increase idle around 100rpms. I cut the block off plate and not long after we had a good rain storm. I drove all around, fish tailin and what not Went home, pulled into the garage and shinned some light into the snorkle. Water only made it a few inches up into the snorkle. Not even half way up. I then pulled the snorkle and checked everything out. You shouldnt have any problems with water getting to the carb. But you should keep a good clean filter in the air cleaner if you remove the screen and block off plate. Here is the only picture I have of the intake.

Not a bad idea to trade someone, but they are cheap.
You can get a new one (from GM dealer) for around $9-10. The snorkle is cheap too. I remember that I was suprised at the price, it was cheaper then I expected, but can not remember exactly what I paid.

Sorry OC, already trimmed it before I read this.
Why don't you just leave it open? Could help decipate heat from city driving.
