Re: New member truck pics

Thanks! To start with it has 9 leafs on each side in the rear so that is going to get changed cause it rides like hell. Must have been a heavy half. Next up will be a limited slip so I wear the rear tires evenly
Then just some small things to make it more of a comfortable cruiser, interior work and find all the squeaks and rattles. Ill post some engine shots later.

Re: New member truck pics

Original as far as i can tell. Bought it this way. Including the ugly tin on the engine. Never was much for "chrome"

Re: New member truck pics

Nice! I love the 79 trim on the older trucks. if its a true 76 the box or box side is not original. I dont think the fuel door came out until 79.

Re: New member truck pics

Thanks everyone! I dont plan on lowering it much but the heavy half rear leaves have to go! The truck is a 1976 with dual fuel tanks. You guys are right about the fuel doors thou, so its had some work done to it. Unfortunately I dont have much history on it. The original paint is a minty green.

Re: New member truck pics

How does it ride with the heavy leaf springs? I want to swap my 1/2 ton leafs out for 3/4 ton/heavy half springs.

Re: New member truck pics

Mine has 8 leaves per side with 1 overload spring underneath. The ride is super stiff, hammers the truck over every bump or expansion joint. But if you really need to haul its nice. I had a load of sheet rock even with the box sides and the truck was sitting level! Its a rare occasion I need something to haul that much weight so i'm going for ride comfort so I can drive it more.

Welcome! Nice truck. But it's not all original Chevrolet never painted the rally wheels black.
Please repaint them back to metallic silver.

Very nice truck you have. I thought 1976 truck beds came with the gas cap on the outside without the door which I thought came out as a 1979 change. Either way its a keeper.
