Cadillac suspension on a square?

I was just sitting here going through the ol memory file and I remembered this. A guy I know built a coulpe stepside shortys about 20 years ago. I remember him saying that he put in a cadillac front suspension to make it ride better. Now I don't know if he replaced the whole cradle or just the spindles, a-arms, etc.
Anyone else heard of this? I will have to ask him about it the next time I see which may be a while.

Not sure what year of model it would have been but obvoiusly it would have been an older model. 70's-80's?

Re: Cadillac suspension on a square?

My guess is he would of had to clip it. If Cad spindles worked for a bit of drop I think it would of been plastered on all the boards by know.

Also he may of known how to do a clip, but not Z a frame for some reason.

Re: Cadillac suspension on a square?

Fabrication-wise, I'm sure you could swap it all over. Gm-wise, I don't think so. 77-96 car 5x5 pattern suspension all interchanges. Standard/metric is the only issue. (I have 95-96 impala SS lowering/track suspension under a 79 caddy coupe.)

In my parts pile of front suspension pieces, it's easy to distinguish the truck parts from everything else...
