changing oil
Hey guys I decided to change my oil today but I cant get the drain plug off. Is it suppost to be that tight? How do you guys get it off? I'm putting a lot of force on it and it wont move at all.

I had that happen once..... Sometimes they are just really tight! I also changed my oil today.

Whatever you do, do not strip the head of the bolt.
If the bolt starts spinning freely you might have a stripped bolt. If that is the case you can get it out with some plyers and a wrench. If only the bolt is stripped then you can replace the bolt itself. If the hole is stripped you can buy a replcement plug at checker. They stock them on the shelves next to the oil filter wrenches and funnels. It is a rubber type plug. When you tighten the bolt on this rubber plug it makes the rubber expand and seal the hole. Good Luck! When you put the drain plug back in snug it down and give it an 1/8 of a turn. You do not want to over tighten the drain plug. Some guys at oil and lube places tighten them way too much.

When that happens I give the wrench some "help" with a rubber mallet. Nice and softly at first, then I get mad & WHAM! Off it comes!
