What are you doing with carpet over battery hatch

Well, if all goes well the old 50 will be licensed today and I can start to do the little finishing touches including fitting my carpet for the last time.

During my build I have been in and out of the battery box a lot of times and obviously once I screw my carpet to the floor, that easy access is gone.

What is everyone doing in this regard or is it just a matter of unscrewing and lifting the carpet, underlay etc every time you need to access the battery.

Looking for some possible solutions/ideas?????

Most guys who keep the battery under the floor don't screw the carpet down as you have to be able to access the battery and that is the only access unless you change to one of those drop out the bottom battery holders which are a real pain in the butt if you get stuck somewhere with a bad battery.
Rather than fastening it down like that why don't you use some sort of Velcro type strips (hook and loop) to hold the carpet down on the passenger side.

I'd use snaps.

Put a GOOD seal (heavy side-by-side rows of silicone caulk) you allow to dry thoroughly on the hatch or the acidic fumes will eat at your expensive carpet.

I really don't have a good picture of what the interior guy did for me.. he glued the carpet down on a thin board and it lays on the floor like a floor mat.. easy to raise and get to battery.. the last picture show the carpet in and the one on the pass. side is the one with the board that lifts up.. they are bound and look good..

Thanks guys, some good ideas.

I like the idea of cutting a square and placing a "removable" piece on top of the hatch. Like yours Parkwood it looks like a floor mat with the trim you have around the piece.

Might use your suggestion Mr48 and use Velcro as an interim measure.

Sorry,,, and yes it's for sale... knock off a few BofA's and throw in a Wells Fargo or two and you can have it..

If you don't use a board to glue your carpet too, use Velcro to hold the carpet down or it'll be all bunched up getting in and out... the board has weight to hold it in place..

Seriously??! Any idea what he's asking? I'm too honest to knock off a BofA but I might be willing to sell a kid (or two).
