Widest tire?
I have a 1969 c10 shortbed that i am building. It is lowered 3 inches by springs in the rear and 2.5 inches by spindles in front. I want to run a 29-30 inch tire on a 18 inch wheel. What is the widest tire i could run? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Joe

You may want to figure out what your tire size options are first. The best width/height combo I was able to come up with that was available from more than a single source and wasn't a more off roady looking tire was 295-45R18 which is 28.3 tall and 11.5 wide available from Nitto, Goodyear and Toyo, and was the OEM size for a Ford Lightning Pickup so should be available for the near future at least. Most things taller than that tend to not be very sporty or performance oriented or something you'd want on a lowered truck. My suspension is still being built so how this all fits is still a question and my steering geometry isn't exactly going to be stock but I should be OK with those on all 4 corners with what would be about a 3in drop (although my Jimmy started as a 4x4 so it's really a 12in drop
 ). My sidewall to sidewall measurement will be 75" or 2 inches narrower than the width from the top of the fender well to top of the fender well which is 79". Anyway it should fit but just, so I'd doubt you could pull it off with a taller tire or a wider tire, though you probably could go 305 or maybe even 315 in the rear without widening the wheel houses.

http://www.customclassictrucks.com/f...olet_cheyenne/ He is a forum member too. One thing you want to make sure of is the length of your rear end housing. Your truck being a 69, it could have either. Not assuming you don't know how to tell but if not, let me know and I'll help you. If you order your wheels based on someone else's measurements for example and they happen to have the later rear end in their truck it could throw your backspacing off by as much as .75" either side. 67-69 trucks had a more narrow rear end in them, .. 71-72 they were wider. Late 69-70 I have seen either one.. I'd highly suggest you know which one you have in your truck (again, ..just making sure .. not assuming you dont) Welcome to the board by the way.

I'm running 325/50R15 tires on all four corners with 15x9.5" 4.5" BS on my 67, however I believe I have the wider rear end (haven't measured but its 5x5). Removed my front inner fenders. No clearance issues in the front or back. I could probably go another inch wider in the rear without modification. Tires are flush with the outside of the fenders.
