Question about changing the frame.

I have got my hands on a 65 Chevy 1/2 long box I have a 79 GMC long box. How much trouble is it to switch out frames. I'd like to put the 65 body onto the 79 frame. Or would it be easier to change out only the suspension? Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Question about changing the frame.

It's much easier to just swap out suspension components. Trying to make cab mounts and getting the core support and bed mounts drilled and situated onto the '79 frame is a real headache. It can be done, but it's some work.

I used a '79 Suburban as my suspension donor for my '64. It's a great way to upgrade your chassis for cheap, using factory parts.

Re: Question about changing the frame.

Keep your original frame, and just use all the parts from the '79 you want to add to your truch. It is A Lot of work to put that body onto a '73+ frame. And when you're done it will have about a 3" body lift. That is unless you do a bunch of floor mods to get it down lower on the frame.
