Rockford Fosgate RFX5000 in a 72 Blazer
So I just ordered the head unit for the stereo. I decide to go with a marine unit.. I like the fact that the receiver is seperate from the controller. I can also add a second remote controller at the back of the truck for tailgating...
The receiver is the RFX5000 and you can add Bluetooth and Sirrus. It's already set up fpr iPod and has a USB slot... I think CDs are out dated and not worth it in a 4x4.. I'll update as I progress.... Here is the back of the wired remote, RFXMR5BB. This will be on the dash.. A simple remote will be in the back by the tailgate..... one of these ... |

How much will the setup cost without speakers? I'm thinking of a similar setup.

Like to see how/where you mount the controller.

I'm interested to see how this turns out, as I don't want to cut my dash.

Re: Rockford Fosgate RFX5000 in a 72 Blazer
My Car Audio buddy turned me on to the RFX5000 when we were discussing plans of the future layout of my trucks stereo. Imagine telling a Car Audio guy that you want a full stereo system but don't want to see ANY of it! When he came to and we were able to get him into a chair he told me about it and how its all hidden. My dash is uncut and I want to be able to run a Delete. Signed on to see what you think about it.

I don't see why somone couldn't make a plate that is bolted in place to cover the factory radio holes and be shaped to fit the RFX faceplate. |

Re: Rockford Fosgate RFX5000 in a 72 Blazer
Current plans are to use Buckets and a center console. The RFX and amps will be in the console. The controller will either be in the console, glove box or ashtray. The interior will have a stock appearance with hidden modern amenities. Subs underneath the seats, downward firing speakers underneath the dash, center channel in the stock dash location and the fuel tank will be relocated so some speakers will be behind the seat. I'm not looking for award winning sound but I do want it to be good when cranked!

Re: Rockford Fosgate RFX5000 in a 72 Blazer
interesting head unit. i'm with you on mp3 sound, that's all i listen to. they need to come up with a smaller main remote interface. the rfxmr5bb is a little bigger than a 7'' x 2'' single din at H6.69" x W3.93" x D0.39" almost double din size. though it can be stuck on any flat surface and doesn't take up valuable space behind the dash. it still needs an amp if you want decent sound and a screen if you want to use all the features.
all i'd need is a power on, volume, skip and full random buttons on the remote
