Looking for wire harness suggestion
I think I am going to replace my harness instead of trying to reuse the factory one. Anyone have suggestions on an complete aftermarket harness?

Re: Looking for wire harness suggestion
The type of harness will depend on what you have done to your rig or are planning on doing. Stock engine or late model LS--Current power demands vs what the factory thought was appropriate in the 60's. Most folks I hear use the painless harness' and have had good things to say.

Re: Looking for wire harness suggestion
I bought factory-like harnesses with updates like a later alternator and HEI. Expensive but theoretically plug and play. Check wiringharness.com I think, but buy from ebay or whatever is cheapest once you get the part numbers. ~$1000
AAW is the brand most often recommended for a more modern harness. Newer style fuses rather than glass, more circuits, etc. About half the price of the other route, but may involve more work, crimping, soldering, etc. Painless is another brand similar to AAW that you maywant to look into. |

I went with the above mentioned American Auto Wire (AAW) "Classic Update" series. Great unit, good instructions, easy to install, highly recommend. I also purchased their crimping tools which really helps make for a clean install.

Re: Looking for wire harness suggestion
We use and sell M&H wiring and American Auto Wire. They are essentualy the same harnesses. They are factory fit and USA made. I have personaly installed the stock, stock modified, and classic series harnesses and it just doesn't get any easier. That is what I recomend and sell. WES
