Muffler talk

Ok folks, lets talk mufflers. I've recently been turning toward the Cherry Bomb Extremes for this 56 I'm building. I was stuck on the Delta 40 series from Flowmaster until hearing a couple videos on you tube of the new Cherry bombs. Is anyone running these mufflers or do you have video clips of something you would recommend? Anything but glass packs, I'm not a big fan of the snappy exhaust. I'm at the exhaust stage right now, so I'm going to pull the pin on ordering them within the next week or so

I have Flowmaster Super 40s on my truck, and with 3/4 length headers and short tailpipes (exiting out in front of the rear tire), it sounds pretty good. I am not that big a fan of Flowmasters because of their size and weight, but the do sound good. I attempted to run some small Dynomax race mufflers, and while the sound good. They were too loud.....I have no experience with the Cherry Bombs....

Re: Muffler talk

Planning to put Porters on mine. A nice classic hot rod muffler with a mellow sound. Here's a nice video I found:

Re: Muffler talk

I have two vehicles with the cherry bomb extremes on them. I put them on my 69 suburban and love it, you can definitely hear me coming. The noise in the cab is not too excessive as the burb is insulated well and I have the exhaust exiting out the rear.

I also put on a set of fitted extremes on my 2007 Ford Mustang (GT Convertible). I did not like this set up. Couple of problems, the exhaust note was very loud in the car, especially with the top down--probably to be expected. The other problem was a very annoying resonance at 2400 rpm which is right were the rpm would sit at highway cruising speeds. Left them on for about 8 months and took them off and returned to the stock muffler.

Re: Muffler talk

While I do not have a video, I recently installed a pair of Insynerator mufflers on a 1968 Firebird and they did sound great not as loud as the flowmaster 40 but yet a nice deep performance sound. Plus I got them on ebay for 80 dollars , price and sound in one package!!
