Lowered c10 leaning on 1 side...

I had my 82 GMC Sierra lowered a few months ago. I used Western Chassis 2.5 inch drop spindles and DJM 2 inch drop springs up front and a western chassis flip kit in the rear, should be a 4.5/5 drop.

The truck sits an inch higher on the passenger side, now I've heard about the chevy lean but i wouldn't think it would be a full inch. My question is could bumpstops or shocks have anything to do with it? I think maybe the springs didn't give me enough drop as well.


Also, I'm looking to go lower, I want a set of 3 inch drop springs that will give me a true 3 inches of drop. Any suggestions?

Shocks would cause some difference from being worn, but not that much. Try swapping side to side with the spring. If the lean follows to other side then you know it is a spring issue. Are you sure both your springs seated correctly?? Did you have both spring cushions in? I would check that road first and go from there. Good luck

Thanks for the reply, It was installed by a local shop, but as far as I know they did it correctly, I haven't had any drive ability issues.

The front shocks are stock and the rear are stock with the shock extenders.

If I can find some good 3 inch drop springs, I'm planning on trying that, because I'm wanting it lower all the way around anyway.

Alright thanks, so the leaf springs could just be worn more on one side causing this, right?

Did it sag to one side before you installed the drop kit?? If it did not sag, I don't think swapping your rear springs would affect the lean now if all you did in the back was to install a flip kit. The parts that you replaced are a more likely culprit if the lean came after you installed everything. The front has changed parts, not the back. The back was relocated.

If it did lean prior to the drop kit, then swap the rears.... good luck

If you do install 3" lowering springs on the front with the drop spindles you already have just be aware that your lower control arm inner pivot point gets dangerously close to the ground. They end up ground flat from scraping

Mine are 3 and 3 and its not so bad. The headers are the biggest issue but this is the absolute lowest you can go and still drive relatively fast over bumpy roads. Welding in reinforcement at the bushing pivots is a good idea though. Any lower and your asking for trouble.

Agree. Headers are infamous for getting chewed up. Also keep in rim size in mind, you will have to deal with inner wheel wells if you are running 20's or bigger

I just had this problem I had a full inch on the passenger side as well I did some measurements and found there was a difference of 3/8th on an inch lower on drivers side
so I ordered a 3/8th spacer put it in under the drivers side spring and no more lean and the truck measures perfect

My 79 had about 1/2 difference in the rear which threw off the front as well. I just had a lowering block machined 1/2 smaller on the high side and it fixed it. Try adding a 1" lowering block to the high side in the rear. $32.99 at Pep Boys.
