Hei and tach problem
I've searched on here and still can't find a solution.Done the tach conversion about 4 years ago no problem with tach. Had a 700r4 installed about 2 months ago and redone my gauges, now tach won't work.Will not move when I turn switch on everything else seems to work fine. Rechecked all the wiring,found nothing,pulled dash back out all looks fine.
Could it be: 1. Bad tach 2 Bad circuit board 3. Bad distributor cap Also have Painless wiring harness installed last year and tach worked fine. Will appreciate any and all help. Thanks, Dave

I would say lose connection or the tach has just failed. Could be coincidence or due to disassembly and reassembly.

I agree with lee. Have you tried running a separate ground wire to the tach itself? The tach is independent of the the circuit board also. Did it just quit one day while you were driving?

Might pick up cheap aftermarket tach to test your wiring with. Splice into the tach wire going to the current tach, then take the temp tach and wire off the distributor lead. May give you an idea if it's a tach issue or a wiring issue.

I tried anothef tach seems like i'm not getting power from the cap. Going to check that out later today. Have Painless Wiring harness installed,have not found any wiring issues yet.
