Task Force window seals?
First off I did try searching but time is money. Only one search allowed every 60 seconds is beyond my patience level.
I have very drafty door windows, to the point that my AC never really gets a chance to recirculate the air to continuously cool it down. When driving down the road I can feel large amounts of air coming in around the DS window, I am sure the PS is the same. Let me just say I don't have to crack a window to smoke a cigarette in the truck if its moving. I have already replaced the DS vent window seal but have done nothing with the side windows. My question is will LMC item 38-6118 seal kit stop the window leaks by itself or would I also need the lower seal? Thanks for your input. |

Re: Task Force window seals?
What door seals? I couldn't get the set from LMC installed. The doors wouldn't close properly.

Re: Task Force window seals?
That is window channel and the seal at the bottom of the window (when it is rolled up).
My truck never had the door bottom seal since I owned it. Never affected air infiltration. It is designed to divert the rain water out of the gap between the window and door. The "flap" goes to the outside. The window channel fits into a continuous channel along the strike/lock side of the door and is secured with a screw in the top of the door by the division bar. The door trim (inside) also keeps it in place. Here is a couple of photos of my door. It is possible that different production plants used a different method to secure the door channel. At the very bottom of the door there should be a loop of metal that the channel is secured into also. [/IMG] Incidently, a local glass shop can get this stuff for you about 1/2 price of the specialty shops. Only thing you need is the dimension of the channel, or a sample of your old stuff. Steve |

Re: Task Force window seals?
Actually on this door there is a "clip" at the end of the metal channel that retains the window felt channel...

Re: Task Force window seals?
Actually, I am thinking of part #9 for the window channel. Part #4 is the piece between the glass window and the frame. It should fit directly into the window frame between the glass. I cant imagine this would cause a massive air leak?

Re: Task Force window seals?
post a pic. i was thinking door seals, you did say window seals. 4&5 refer to the window seals.
i've only done the vent window seals yrs ago, it took 2 pipe clamps and some patience to get the rubber seated. when i did my current truk i got to that point and bought the 1 piece windows from brothers

Re: Task Force window seals?
I was hoping it wouldn't be part 7 because I am not paying $120 for a window seal kit. Has anyone found anything else that will do the job for less, because I am a cheap A$$.

Re: Task Force window seals?
If you do a search for a post about one piece windows by Black Diesel I think he mentioned getting the window felts in bulk...

Re: Task Force window seals?
Could find some glue in felt for the division bar, window fuzzies, and window channels would fix your issues. Should be able to get all three pieces for less than $120. I know you don't want to spend a lot, but if you want it to function properly you will have to spend some $.

Re: Task Force window seals?
Hey John,
Blackdiesel's video series on one piece windows is a very well done piece. Worth time even though you are sticking with the stock windows. I will be doing my windows in my truck in the near future too, lemme know if you need some help.

Re: Task Force window seals?
check out Truck Shop $75, for same parts
http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks47_59/t47_049.html Also, I would advise not to buy vent window rubber from LMC, I replaced mine about a year ago and they're cracking and deteriorating ,the rubber is not hard it is still soft but splitting and cracking. I will be buying from Steel rubber when I go to replace them They are more expensive but that's something you don't want to change often nor should you have to. |

Re: Task Force window seals?
1958Warrior, thanks for the link I may go that route if I can't source the generic U channel rubber.
I PM'd blackdiesel about the rubber he used in his video. He recommended a local glass shop or a swap meet. Swap meets here in Phoenix dry up in the summer. Back to the web to try and locate. If anyone happens to have a link to the rubber please throw it up. Thanks. |

Re: Task Force window seals?
Hate the 30 min edit rule!
Wonder if this will work? Its unbeaded which I believe means it has no steel backing, which would mean it would need to be screwed/riveted to my channels. Cost would be $30. |

Re: Task Force window seals?
It maybe to narrow, on Steels site they give the measurements http://www.steelerubber.com/search?y...nel-60-0375-58
I have some pics of what I got from LMC, the front channel is a 37" felt peel and stick tape that goes into the channel , Don't know if it is possible to do without removing the window to install these .[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG] |

Re: Task Force window seals?
My wife made me some out of industrial strength back to back carpet tape and strips of left over Mexican blanket. I'd post a pic but the uploader isn't working.
