Need help with HOOD installation. My hood sits up at the cowl and then at the grill it does not fit well. I will post pictures shortly.

Is there a good method.

You just need to loosen the bolts on the hinges here and there, push or pull it where you went it, ratchet it down, close the hood to see how close you are then rinse and repeat. If the hood is sitting up like that at the cowl, it would effect how the front fits.

Re: 67 Hood Installation HELP!!!

If I remember I take a permanent marker and trace along the outside of the hinges before I remove or loosen anything. It makes things easier when reassembling.

Aligning body parts is not an exact science but most will agree it can be a PITA

Re: 67 Hood Installation HELP!!!

Make sure the hood isn't tearing apart from the bolt holes either. Mine did that and I just welded them up did a little grinding and some repaint and Ta Da! Presto!. I also did use a marker before I took the hood off and it went right back into place. Good luck.

Re: 67 Hood Installation HELP!!!

If I am not mistaken, if the hood is too high in the back you need the back of the hinge go down and the front of the hinge come up. Or you might not need to adjust the front of the hinge at all.

Re: 67 Hood Installation HELP!!!

I had to have someone push downward and towards the rear on the hood while it was upright.. sounds weird.. and then tighten the bolts. you may be able to see where the old washers were at. helps get it close anyway.

Here's the procedure posted by Huck:

To get the back down with existing hinges---open hood----loosen the three bolts that attach hinge to fender (both sides). Now push the hood up till the hinges stop moving, ---now push it open a bit more to preload the hinges. Tighten hinges. (two people make it a lot easier) now CAREFULLY lower the hood--this may take a few adjustments to get it to sit just right (height wise). You may need to adjust the hood front to rear to allow for proper clearance with the cowl.

Re: 67 Hood Installation HELP!!!

generally when the hood is high in the back , the hinges are worn , and you need new hinges
