1976 K10 350 THM conversion

I have a 383 with a 350 THM and I assume the NP205 transfer case with the manual locking hubs. I've read somewhere that K10s with AT used the 203 and manuals the 205 but not sure that's correct.

I want to put a better transmission in the truck. I'd prefer to put something like a 6l80e but I'll settle for a 700r4.

Is it possible to but the 6l80e or 4l65e in this truck without a great deal of difficulty? Will they work with that transfer case? Is the 700R4 the better option? Any thoughts?

I've thought about swapping the motor out for a late model FI engine and the 327 would do well as would the 6.0 or 6.2 iron block as long as it has modern FI. I mention this as I could do a total pullout and get engine, transmission, wiring harness yada, and computer etc all at once. Would a pullout on a 4x4 be better? I don't care about any more performance but I do want the driveability and the mileage.

I've thought about Gear Vendors but that seems more expensive although maybe not.

I'd also like to replace the seat belts. Can you do that on the 76? It doesn't have to be newer model belts as in recent vehicles. I can make do with just the part that receives the buckle. I don't like the floppiness of the stock 76 parts and want at least one that sticks out farther from the bench seat and doesn't require two hands.

One last question. I think I have the A6 type AC compressor. Can I use the R4 type or is it best to replace mine with what's in the vehicle now?

Thanks.
