Track70 Build!!
Well i guess it's time for a build thread for ole track 70..The vision for this build is for the truck to not look perfect on the outside but the suspension and drivetrain be ready for the track..and of course on a normal budget!!
Anyways here is a pic of her when i first got her home..not very pretty but i loved it! Some quick info on it..1970 C10 fleetside shortbed..original 307 engine and TH350 trans, 3.08 open 12 bolt rearend...ran like crap and thought i was gonna put my foot through the floor to stop it...still had a smile on my face though! Well after about a month of spending too much money i got the motor running perfect with a new carb,plugs,wires,dizzy,thermostat...ect.Got rid of gas tank behind seat and installed a fuel cell! Also got some suspension goodies from CPP and ECE to get the truck to sit right..6" drop coils, Cut coils in front, and deluxe track bar Then i cleaned up the interior a little bit with new wheel, removed all junk and leaves, it had newer style yukon seats in it when i got it which i don't like..rather have the stock bench! After that i drove it around for a few week until i couldn't stand the brakes anymore and had some money burning a hole on my pocket..Got ahold of Rob AKA (Hart Rod) and he hooked me up with a 72 rearend and a whole complete front suspension from the same truck..Also scored a complete 68 front clip which i love..Anyways the work began... New Front End 40 years of dirt and wussy drum brakes Time for deconstruction Look NO RUST..Very surpised NEW PARTS!! Well that's it for now..will finish up the front end and start on the rear disk setup soon

Re: Track70 Build!!
Well i got to work on it today for a few hours..all my new steering parts came in and got the right center link for the truck..here are some pics of the progress.
All new inner & outer tie rod ends, adjusting sleeves and new idler arm..Nice and tight steering now!! Also got the heater box and all the stuff in the cab taken out..waiting for my porterbuilt delete panels to come in to fill those holes. Got the motor cleaned up a little bit and got rid of some things it didn't need. LESS IS MORE! My 68 front end is almost ready to go on..a little more cleaning and some paint. Will be cleaning up my 72 rearend during the week, getting it ready for new seals, bearings, studs, oil, and of course my CPP rear disk brake kit!!

Re: Track70 Build!!
Well guys i got another pile of new parts that came in..We got a lot done today..more to come tomorrow!
I got the right core support mounting bolts and washers to switch out front ends but the mounting bracket holes on the 70 frame were quite larger then the new washers..So i decided to test fit the front end and then weld the washers in place so it would never pull threw! Also did the final cleaning on front clip & firewall and laid some glass black paint down. Finally got the front clip on after about an hour of tweaking and getting body lines perfect. Close to final product..IM IN LOVE LOL!! Will be finishing up the front end and starting to work on the rearend tomorrow..Stay Tuned!!

Re: Track70 Build!!
That looks great. I'm doing the same conversion on my clip. What's the difference on the mounts? I thought they were the same. Might save me some trouble if you could go into detail!

Old wore out master cylinder Got boost lol! I liked the cast look on the master cylinder so i got some high heat clear and sprayed it..should keep it from rusting. Got her all plumped up and ready to go..I think it came out nice. Also made a radio delete plate and mounted my gauges in it..Looks a whole lot better

Re: Track70 Build!!
The Fedex man brought me a gift last week..My rear brakes
The install went very smooth..really pleased with CPP fit and finish Time to roll it in there..See motorcycle jacks are good for other things too lol! Final Product. Bled all the brakes and now i have a rock solid pedal..Only had two leaks to fix..not bad for changing all the lines Also got my heater box delete plate made.I didnt want any bolts showing so i welded some studs on the back side for a clean look!

Re: Track70 Build!!
Well it's been awhile guys..I've been busy going to shows and having a blast with the truck..But it's time for an update..
First thing was i got some new meats and wheels to roll on..i went with cragar soft 8 wheels in 17x9 with 5" backspacing..i wrapped them in 255/45/ZR17 rubber After I got the wheels mounted i finished up my radio install..of course i removed all my heater stuff along with the controls..i built a radio mount out of metal and slipped the new radio in..It looks like it came that way which was the look i was going for and i didn't have to touch or hack up the dash. I cleaned everything up in the engine bay and i think it came out pretty nice for a budget beater! Well i had to paint the truck one color after the front end swap and i wanted something a little different besides just normal black..so i went to my local wal-mart and found this stuff..it will protect the metal and has a little texture to it..came out awesome! And a pic of the whole truck at a show! Then i just came back from Crusin The Coast and picked up some nice LED taillights to clean the back end up..I was hesitant on buying the all clear with red leds just for the fact that they might not be bright enough in the sun..But i was wrong..these things are BRIGHT in any light!
