what steering columns work the best s10 swap
I am doing a s10 swap on a 1951 chevy pickup and I honestly had to hack up the stock steering column into 3 pieces to get it out (ran into several problems and needed it out quick when I was moving cab over) I do not want to put the s10 column in it because to me it just doesn't look correct. I have a steering column out of a 1970 chevy pickup and was wondering if anyone has used one of them in their swap before. If so pics or details would be greatly appreciated before I start trying to make this work.

Re: what steering columns work the best s10 swap
I'm just researching myself but I've been told the 67-72 Chevy truck columns are a great choice, they have a clean look and I've been told thats what aftermarket column makers base thier columns on. Also a van colun from 67-78 (I believe) are identical other than a longer output shaft.
This is the route I'd like to go but these columns seem to be scarce. I'm actually goint to look at a non-tilt floor shift tonight for $25. Anything else I've found is as high as new. |

Re: what steering columns work the best s10 swap
This is the column out of a 70 4 speed truck that we had that I totaled. The only issue is that the shaft doesn't disconnect from it's extension just below the end of the column like later ones do.
I haven't taken the time to figure out how to fit the later shaft and lower bushing to this column yet though.
