Cutting cab for driveshaft

I'm in the process of finishing my truck after a step notch install and was wondering if anyone has pictures or has done a 1 piece drive shaft instead of a 2 piece? I know everyone likes to go with 2 piece but I was wondering what would need to be cut for a one piece? I don't mind cutting..or if I go with 2 piece is it worth buying a used or just have a shop make me one. Thanks :devil

First off do you have a long bed or short bed? and what year truck? are you going to lower it? all these question will have to be answered before we can give you any suggestions. It looks like you said step notch so I would assume you have lowered the truck?

Re: Cutting cab for driveshaft

I had a cross member notched to lower the rear and miss the driveshaft, but the cab was way out of the way.

Was that with step notch? The crossmember would need to cut and the cab did look high?? Lets see if someone has some pictures. Thanks

Re: Cutting cab for driveshaft

I have the Porterbuilt Touring setup with rear 4 link and a 5" step notch. Short bed '65 C-10. I just ordered a 1 piece aluminum 3.5" diameter shaft and I don't have to cut the cab. This is with my motor sitting in the Porterbuilt crossmember and using their tubular tranny crossmember so I don't know high my motor and tranny sits in the frame compared to yours. I had Nate build me a set of motor mounts that allowed my motor to sit about 3/4" lower than normal in that front crossmember. Hope this helps.
