My 65 on 68 Frame Build

Hello Thanks for Looking at my build thread.
I bought a 1965 chevy swb it all orig. I bought a 1968 chevy truck to use for parts. it has a rebuilt 350 with a 5 speed all new front disk breaks and ps. it has a blazer tank out back. i plan on putting my body on that frame. the only thing i don't like is the po of the 68 move the engine foward about 2 inch so he would not have to cut the drive shaft. when he swap in the 5 speed. what is ya input on that

Driveshaft shop here in Winston that does good work. Doesn't cost that much either. Looks like a cool build keep us posted.

...at least about the cost factor. Here locally I checked in to the cost of lengthening mine, between $250 and $300... Shortening is $65, easy math for me...

Re: My 65 on 68 Frame Build

Well hello and to the site !!

I have contemplated the very same thing you are doing here for some future builds.
My only 2cents worth would be:
1cent - shorten the drive line to fit and move the powertrain back where it belongs. I got a new one completely built for my 66 Pontiac last month and that was only $200. I only imagine shortening one would be far cheaper.
2cent - since you have everything disassembled to this point anyways, might as well tear it all apart and build it up right. If you dont, you will catch yourself later saying "I wish I had...(insert specific task or part here)...while I had it apart"

Nothing beats taking your time and getting it EXACTLY the way you want it.
Which is something I too have to struggle to remember at times.

Great start on this project, Good Luck with it !!!
