Gas pedal different?
Anyone know if there is a difference in gas pedals in squares? I replaced my broken one in my 76 with one from a 79 auto truck I replaced the whole arm rather then try to pop the pin since i could see that going bad with 30 year old plastic. I drove it just fine for a month but it would never seem to go wide open me being lazy never decided to look into it further until i had a problem which was the cable poping though the plastic retainer while going up a mountain this weekend with the camper on the back. zip ties are a god send in that situation. I replaced the cable sunday when i got home and it looks like I only get about 75% of full throttle looks like i dont have enough to open the secondaries which would explain why i was pushing so hard on the gas i broke the cable I can get the other arm if that is what is causing this but its 10 miles away in storage.

Re: Gas pedal different?
I can't remember for sure, but I think the gas pedals changed in 77 from the rectangle pedal to the ones with the right corner trimmed off.Someone will probably post a picture of both for more clarity...

Re: Gas pedal different?
If its the pedal hitting the floor because its too big, take a hacksaw blade and trim off the offending piece.
If its the pedal/arm bottoming out, bend the pedal arm until you are able to get full throttle. Alex. |

Re: Gas pedal different?
I think there might be a piece not aligned correctly in the bracket when I put in the new cable there is a little pin deal on the bracket it only goes up about half way when you press on the gas. I believe the little pin should pivot in the slot from one end to the other. It will have to be pulled apart for sure and see what isn't right. I did get the other Arm from storage today so in the next few days will get to looking at it.
