Project Frankenstein (69 LWB)
Finally after 15 years I get to do something for me. I've been wanting a Gen 2 C10 for years and my father found two for me. So the nightmare begins of making 2 clunkers 1 decent truck. The 69 body is in good shape but the frame is bent. My 72 has a perfect frame but most of the body has feel victim to rust mites. So......here we go

Re: Project Frankenstein (69 LWB)
My father stripped the 72 down to the frame for me (love that guy). Now that Im on leave I got the frame and rear end blasted. Then I started to take apart the 69. I knew it was going to be bad but not this bad

Here is the frame and rear end after sandblasting. I ordered KBS Frame Coating so tomorrow should be a busy day. Then its the waiting game for my extreme front dropmember and big brake kit from PorterBuilt.

Re: Project Frankenstein (69 LWB)
Its been awhile but I finally got a short break so I took a trip home to do some work on the truck. 2 days of rain so the weather wasn't on my side. All I could get done was test fitting the rear step notch and the painting of the frame.

Re: Project Frankenstein (69 LWB)
Its been a while since I was able to make it back to Maryland to work on my truck. But I made it home for a few days over the Christmas break and got a little work done. I scuffed up the frame to remove the runs I created from the first attempt and added a couple more coats. I (with the help of my father and son) installed the complete PB Extreme Dropmember (front and back). And that was about all I could get done. I will be waiting another six months to be able to continue any work. But in the meantime I have sent the rear end off to get rebuilt and limited slip installed (nice that my father has friends that build race cars!). And now I just creating my wish list of parts for my next visit home. Should be Boyds fuel tank, CPP rear disk brakes, brake lines and fuel line. Im just debating weather or not to build the fuel system EFI ready with AN lines and fittings.
And Yes!!!! That is and old mobile home we're working in. |
