Shock Mount Repair
Hey all, just wanted to share my fix of my front shock mount on my '86 shorty as you can see in the first pic it had a gigantic hole where the shock had been loose and egged out the mount badly...I took a piece of 1/4" plate and shaped it to fit with a grinder then tacked it once to get the placement right then filled the gaps what do you guys think?

Re: Shock Mount Repair
Looks good. The frame is a heavy duty spring steel so a grade 8 washer works good too. It's a good fix for everyone though shock braces from a 4x4 off lmc truck do well at preventing issues as well

Re: Shock Mount Repair
One of my shocks was loose for a long time, fortunately the frame was ok.

Re: Shock Mount Repair
Ya I was originally going to go the easy route and just use a grade 8 washer, but there was to large of a gap at the top and the bottom still and it didn't sit right in the hole either, I was worried about it tearing out again so I went with this

Re: Shock Mount Repair
While I would definitely agree with adding the 4x4 bracket to put the bolt into a "double shear" situation.....the frame is not spring steel.
