Took awards for both trucks at car show.

I was pleased to take awards for both of my trucks at a local car show today. I thought I would share some pictures. Enjoy.

I like the idea of having your signboards on the underside of the hood.

I made the signboards myself. I get a lot of nice comments about them. I should seriously consider making them for other people. I know how expensive they are to buy. At first I used Velcro tape, but that left one half of the Velcro stuck to the hood when I took the signboard off. My wife said why not just use magnets (Duh!). So I used clear packaging tape to hold the magnets on. The packing tape also protects the painted surface of the hood. Then to store it (in the '70), I just stick it up over my head in the cab because I don't have a headliner in that truck.

I hear from people all the time at shows trying to pedal a signboards on me but I've never been interested. I don't like clutter and I like to have the truck speak for itself. But I really like your setup. Thanks for the info!

Re: Took awards for both trucks at car show.

Your a lucky guy with two beautiful trucks. Got to ask what size tire are you running on the Orange one? I have the exact same truck exept in long bed format. I'm running the 16.5x8.25 wheels too.

Thanks for the compliments. On the orange K10 I'm running 31X10.5-15 tires.

Congrats on your accomplishment. I know how hard it is to place with one truck but to do it with two is something to really be proud of.

Re: Took awards for both trucks at car show.

Congrats Dan, both are beauties. This was a 600 car show with a huge attendance. There was a crowd of people hanging around your trucks all day! Those were well deserved awards.

Re: Took awards for both trucks at car show.

Hey derotoreut
I was looking thru your pics and was wondering if both of your trucks have the same "ground clearance" or "ride height"?
It's kind of hard to tell for sure because the field where you have them parked side by side is not 100% level but to me they look like they might be the same height?

Tell me more about these trucks. Are they both the factory stock ride height? And is there a difference between the 4x4 and 2wd ride height?

I'm going to get my own C10 and am personally debating between a 2wd and a 4x4.

Check out my threads on the subject

P.S.
Awesome trucks I'm big on keeping them as original and simple as possible

Re: Took awards for both trucks at car show.

There is a definite difference between my two trucks. First of all the '70 K10 is 1/2 ton with stock ride height and 31X10.5-15 tires. The '69 C20 is 3/4 ton with heavy duty front springs to lift it and 285/70-17 tires. The 285/70-17 tires are about 1-3/4" taller, and about 1" wider then the 15" tires. Plus the front lift on the '69 just adds to it. It has a higher lift then the stock K10 4X4.
