Hard Tops/Soft Tops
Accidentally put this in the builds category so reposting here.
I've been kicking around the idea for a long time of selling my hard top and going strictly with a soft topper. It would need a fair amount of work to get it to where I want it for starters. On top of that, I don't really have a great place to store it and it's just a hassle dealing with it IMO. I'm all but convinced to go through with it but wanted to see what others thought as I have that nagging feeling not to do it. I don't plan to ever sell my truck but I keep thinking that if for some reason things got to be an issue that it would be nice to have, especially since single wall tops are getting harder to find. So what do you guys think? Keep? Sell? What are they going for these days (I'll become a supporting member if I decide to sell - don't worry there mods)? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Hard Tops/Soft Tops
To me it's a no-brainer: keep the top. If you don't, I'll take it for a spare

I would never sell it. But you wont find it a problem to sell if you want to.

Re: Hard Tops/Soft Tops
It's something I've definitely been struggling with. If I do end up going with a soft top like I'm planning, then I don't think that I will ever put it back on. So then I'm just storing a top that needs restoration. I'm on a tight budget too, so using the money gained from the top towards a soft top would be nice too. I just can't ditch the what if thought on whether I will ever want it again someday down the road.

Re: Hard Tops/Soft Tops
I was in a similar boat and decided on selling. My Jimmy was fully restored, the top still needed quite a bit of work. I didn't have a tall enough garage to create a hoist system, it was double wall too so I was afraid of destroying the side of my truck in trying to put it back on. The main factor for me, is this is totally a sunny day ride for me, If there is a chance of rain, I don't drive it. I actually haven't even got a softtopper yet for that reason. I think I will eventually, as luck would have it, we've had the nicest summer I can ever remember so I've been able to have it as my daily driver since early June! I'd admit that if I had a garage to enable a hoist system, I would have kept it and restored it.
