need help with 63 c-15 parking brake

Hi, folks,

the parking brake on my 63 c-15 seems to be sticking. The lever seems to ratchet and release correctly, but the brakes remain in the parked position. Any ideas where I should start checking to see what the problem is?

thanks!

Sounds to me like the cables are not releasing at the rear brake. The cable connects to the underdash lever and goes to the equalizer bar on the frame crossmember. Id start chasing it from the handle to the equalizer, then chase it back to to brakes if you know the cables are good. May be as simple as just being out of adjustment.

I had the same issue on mine, and all I had to do was flush out the cables with lubing spray. Although 1963c-10 has a good point , inspect the whole system.

Re: need help with 63 c-15 parking brake

If you have to order any cables, keep in mind that there was a model change mid year 63. So there are two different ends for 63 cables....an early model cable and a late model cable.
