SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
picked up this beaut today....
turned out to be a factory air/auto/pb truck no engine/trans when I got it, but all the trans linkage is still there. the window clips are missing, the front seat(s) are there, but it only came with a lower cushion for the back. the special ashtray for the a/c is still there. first time I have seen one with the black knobs for the radio, (usually a black knob truck will still have the chrome radio knobs) the braces are all solid, but the floor might be a little thin under the mat. It is not through anywhere yet. fenders are junk (as usual), but for the second time in a month I scored a perfect hood! vin tag had a "Z" in it , so I am thinking that it is a fremont built truck. beautiful uncut rear bumper, and good taillights. luckily I was paying attention, on the ground about 10 feet in front of it was the original fan shroud. here are the CL photos:

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
I hope both... currently some parts for my 64 sub... then I put those slightly more abused parts on this... thinking that I don't need the a/c at all, so I might try to sell that once I am a premium member again....
This came with a title, and is pretty decent, so it could be a future project... It would be cool to have a lowered 2wd to match my 4wd! ... spent a few hours opening the driver door!!!! the latch spinner was completely frozen (rust) so I unbolted the door from the front , and then wiggled it out far enough that I could get a wrench on the 4 bolts on the latch on the cab. 2 of the 3 screws that hold the latch to the door were stress cracked all the way around , so the latch was not tight in the door , which is probably why I could not break the spinner free....

the rf fender has an ugly bend above the tire... I hope that the frame hasn't been compromised....

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
thanks for the offer, captain fab hooked me up over the summer....
still not sure on the direction of the interior for this... for now I am keeping the air dash... I did a tiny bit to this this summer, I found a passenger door off a 65 truck that was not dented, and is the same color. I also found a decent fender (lh) on a 63 that is also the same color... both fenders still need rust repair, but if I want to do a patina build it is now all complete with (mostly!) straight panels.

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
I dug this out today. Since the crew cab and 64 sub are at my house now I needed something to work on at the yard....
loose outline for this is : as little body work and rust repair as possible.-I hope to try to get away with a "patina" build, since I have found pretty much all straight panels in tan for this. the grille support I don't have , and this one is crashed, so I will have to figure out how to make one of my good ones tan. low- I will do another pancaked cross member, and I found a set of 3 inch drop springs that I forgot I had in the garage at home. Pontiac power! I have a good 64 Pontiac 389 that needs a home, and one of the trans ams at the yard has a good automatic. first order of business though is to get the frame sorted out: it went in a ditch at the right front, and the inner fender is definitely pushed up and bent, whether the frame is tweaked too is the question... the frame is also stress cracked on the drivers side behind the control arm. if the frame is junk I have a line on another sub frame, and might have to replace that first. this will go slow, because I need to concentrate on the other 2 first, but it is the next build in line. a question on the transmission mount? this is a 65, the column indicator shows PRNDL, so I am thinking power glide? however there is no mid mount across the frame at the bell housing. was it removed? or were the P/G's mounted with a tail mount (that might also be missing). all I see down there is the E-brake mount.

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
I noticed yours is missing one of the rear windows? I just picked up a set of those doors yesterday and I am missing the left one. Anyone know who sells these or should I just go to a glass shop? CI only has them for 47-59 for $109.95.
Thanks |

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
I guess the a/t cross member is in there! this being my first a/t truck I didn't know what to look for. it has the provisions for the 65 E-brake setup as well.
I got a tan door off a truck that was straight, and a tan LH fender off a 63 that is ok. also the frame crack, and the bent inner fenders from going into a ditch I assume.

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
If I remember correctly that trans crossmember should be in the correct location for a TH350 also.

got out there in the light snow today and disassembled the front clip , while the clip was off and still in one piece I was able to mostly straighten the passenger fender. now I need to roll it in the garage and see about the frame, and see if it is bent in the front. any suggestions on how to go about that?

Re: SiX-5 SuBuRbAn
I can take a few measurements if I get out to mine tomorrow so you can kind of gauge how far of a gap should be between the front frame rails.
