Long VS Short - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Yeah i'm sure it's been done before, but I'm at a crutial stage of the build up. I've done my best to fight the legalities of our Canadian Law, but as luck would have it i've only found one solution to my problem of lowing the truck without modifying the frame. The answer is by fabricating a complete custom frame for my truck. It's currently a 1967 C10 Small window, Longbed Fleetside, but I've been considering making it a short bed as i'm just in the design stage and anything is possible. I'm keeping it a Fleetside with the 67 stylings, but longbed or shortbed is the question. It will be a show truck, with nothing to spare, so my question is Longbed or Shortbed?

You forgot an option for middle length box. 7' It will be REALLY unique. Go for it!

I like the longbeds because if they are lowered (and mabye chopped too) they look even longer and lower. To me anyways.

Plus i have a Longbed

I think if you are planning to take it to shows you would be shooting yourself in the foot to make it a longbed.

(saying sarcasticly) do it like the do here in Houston. make it a dually longbed, and slam it to the ground.

in all honesty, since it's only going to be a show truck, then make it a shortbed.

Depends on how well optioned the truck is too, and how original you want to keep it. If you had a '72 Cheyenne BB with all the goodies that was a longbed, I'd keep it as is for originality, but if it's a bare bones optioned truck like many are, SWB's bring more $$ on resale and will do better at a show. Go short.

Short for show-Long for hauling all sort of crap my wife doesn't want around anymore or new crap she does want! (more crap capacity in a longbed!)

That's what I'm going to be doing....it should be a fun project to take out 8 inches off of the front section of my bed.
