So I've looked around a lot and cannot seem to find a good solution to this question. Trying to be as careful as possible, I'm sure you all understand. So I'm looking to hoist out my 350 sbc from my 1972 c10. Transmission is staying in the truck. Where should I connect the hooks for the hoist? Should I use two corners or four? Should I even use corners or should I do it another way? Thanks in advance!

I use a chain bolted to opposite intake manifold corners. I'm sure some will say there are safer ways to do it. I have just used this method on V8s with IRON heads for 35+ years with no adverse results. Make sure your chain is sturdy enough and you use good quality bolts and washers.

me too have been using that same piece of chain over 40years(it was old when i got it as my father had used it since the late 40's)

If the engine is stock it might still have the lift tabs still attached, it's usually one in the rear on the intake and one in the front on the other side.Attach a piece of chain to these two tabs, then place your engine hoist hook in the middle of this chain. Take it easy, you may have to adjust the hook a little as you see how it lifts!

What I like to use is a plate that mounts to the intake with the carburator off.
