Exploded view of cab parts available anywhere?

Next project will be soon, a 1950 GMC 150 pickup. Problem is there is heavy rust in the floors, kick panel areas, mount areas, etc..is there a diagram anywhere that shows how the various parts that I am missing go together so I can know just what is missing? Or a cab repair thread with good pictures? Probably simple but with the amount of rust it is hard to tell just what the original parts looked like!

get the assembly manual. It tells you where every spot weld is supposed to be and what was behind what ever is now rotted out and gone. Very useful when doing major resurrections like that.

well worth the $. It is a chevy book but will have most of what you need and I have never seen a used GMC one but they may be around

If you are going to be doing anything besides changing the oil on your truck get a factory assembly manual (shows how it was built including all the small pieces that have fallen off, been taken off and not replaced or rusted away), a specific shop manual or old chiltons type repair manual (shows you how to fix and maintain). Also go to the link in my signature and download the factory spec manual for your year, it has dimensions not shown in the FAM and other design specs not in the shop manual. I am lucky enough to have also inherited all my father and grandfathers general automotive repair, body work and other types of books, some from before WWII. I have collected trade school text books relating to building and automotive repair too.

I agree with all of the previous advice. Buy the books. While you are waiting for the books to arrive go to the LMC website and look at the parts catalog. Probably the next best thing to actually having the books.

Thanks, I would not have expected the assembly manual to show the actual welding of the cab, normally I see them showing how to assemble the individual parts but not the welding together of the body shells. I will post up a build thread once I get started, other than the major sheet metal replacement it should be a straight forward S10 frame swap build. I did find a build thread last night with good pictures of the front cab being rebuilt so that should be good enough.

As he photos Dwcsr posted show the assembly manual shows where the spot welds go and gives measurements for most of the pieces. It doesn't give much of anything as far as specific instructions though as it was originally the manual (s) used on the assembly line. Once you figure it out it will pay for it's self times over when you have as much looking you in the face as it sounds like you do.

I'd also get the year specific "factory" service manual even if you plan several modifications. It does give specific instructions on adjusting body panels and such that are always head scratchers for us. The factory service manuals are also very well written in extremely simple terms and don't assume that the person reading them has a great deal of knowledge about what he/she was reading at the time. Quite often the after market manuals assume that the person reading them has far more experience on the subject than he/she might have from what I have seen.
