It needs something different like truck parts for armrests. Very cool though !

Re: A Man's Bench

There was a thread on these a while back. They're cool looking, probably really uncomfortable without plenty of padding. Never seen one that incorporated the wood like that. Here's the other thread..............

Re: A Man's Bench

I've seen a few of these benches and decided I had to build one of my own. I finished up my project bench a couple weeks ago... Here's a couple pics! I was pretty happy with the way it turned out, what do y'all think?

At least one guy walked past all those 60-66 fleet tailgates thinking "Damn it, I really need that for my truck..."

Re: A Man's Bench

That's the nicest one yet, well thought out, well executed. It's got all the best cues from all 3 styles, the truck, a metal bench, and a wooden piece of furniture.

What did the bumper come off of?

Dino has a few tailgate type seats from what I have seen posted? The bumper in the last pic looks to be 56 ford??

Hey, I'm jmcleek's daughter Becca. Currently I am building one of these benches at my school as a project. The tailgate is not actually attached to the bench, but it deffenetly isn't going anywhere. I have the bumper mounted to the bottom with traction bars. The frame is 1 1/2 inch exhaust pipe and it is bent to where the bench is tilted back some. There are trailer hitch balls at the top of the back frame to cover the holes in the pipe. And here's the kicker, the armrests are valve covers. I'm still working on it and will try to figure out how to get pics.

That is just the frame and the next one is the most complete.

Got some funny stories on the build, because I did it mostly in class and learned to weld on it.
