What is this wire supposed to connect to
This wire is wrapped in with other factory-installed wires that connect through the plug on the right. Any idea what it does or where it goes?

Re: What is this wire supposed to connect to
My thought, if it is pink, is the idle stop solenoid found on some trucks. Best thing to do is trace it and match it up to the wiring diagram in the 72 factory service manual. It can be downloaded here.

Re: What is this wire supposed to connect to
I am not certain without looking at a wiring diagram, but I was thinking carburator electric choke?....... Nope I just looked at the wiring diagram and I am pretty sure it is the idle stop solenoid wire.

Re: What is this wire supposed to connect to
So I'm curious, since I just found the same wire. I've got a mystery 350 with a new(ish) Edelbrock Q-jet. Is there any need for that circuit or can I use it to power the electric choke?

Re: What is this wire supposed to connect to
Thanks for the replies.

Nope. HEI is working fine. AC works fine on my 72 Chevy. As for the idle stop solenoid, the carb doesn't have one and this wire "appears" to be factory and is routed to the passenger side of the truck. Wouldn't the solenoid be on the throttle linkage on the driver side?

Re: What is this wire supposed to connect to
Maybe a fan wire in a non-a/c harness that is not used in an a/c truck? Does it have power anytime?
I would trace it back to the firewall bulkhead and then inside and see where it connects.

Re: What is this wire supposed to connect to
I have a pink wire that looks just like the one in the pictures connected to idle stop solenoid on mine.
