I just got a 1985 3/4 ton Saburban, I was wondering if anyone has heard of or done this. I want to replace all the wheel studs with the newer 14mm studs so that I can put factory alloys off of a 2003 One ton Chevy ( Centercaps, lugs and all)

I was wondering if this would be a direct swap as far as the stud go, or is some machining in order

Where in NorCal are you located?

You don't need to swap the threads. They have special lug nuts specifically for this problem. Go to a local tire shop and have them get the nuts for you. WARNING! They aren't cheap either - I got some and they were $2.50 PER NUT!

While that's not cheap by any means, I would gladly pay that before I would replace the studs. The cost of studs wouldn't be that much, but the headache of changing all of them out would surely offset the expense....

I asked the guys at the wheel shop when I purchased the wheels and they were the ones who told me to swap out the studs. I went to the dealer and they were not aware of any aftermarket company that made a lugnut in 9/16" that had the threads on the outside of the wheel that hold the stock centercap on. I will keep searching and will let you all know what I come up with.

These are the lugs I need to hold the centers on.

Try a different tire shop because I have the nuts so I know for a fact they exist. Mine has the threads on the outside too. The dealer won't know about the nuts. They never know much about aftermarket stuff. I agree with N2TRUX, changing the studs would be a major pain. $40 isn't really all that bad - I'm just cheap!

Do you know what company makes the lugnuts. I would appreciate it if you could give me that info. Thanks to everyone else for your input. Ill post a pic of the Burb with the wheels on it. Thanks again.

Hey Guys,
I found the Lugs I need. A place here in town called Stockton Wheel has them. $1.75 each. Not a bad price considering I wont have to change every stud. The Burb is going to the shop on Friday to have a motor installed. Next is paint. I think a black paint and window tint in the rear. Ill post pics soon. Thanks again.
