New Here...need advice on wheels/ tires combo

Hello all. New here and I've been looking around at some of the pictures of some very cool 73-87 short boxes. I have an '87 GMC Sierra swb shortbox that my dad and I are restoring. New 350 being dropped in this week, then I've got new door panels and grill & front bumper and some paint work being done after that. Not a full paint job yet, just some touch ups around the front and inside the doors.

I am not going to lower the truck. I have already bought two 15 x 8 and two 15 x 10 vintiques 37 series rally wheels with derby caps. Advice needed on what size tires should I put on them. I don't care for the low profile look too much. I like the old style fat white letter tires. Any pics or advice is welcome. Thanks and I'll post pics when it's done and someone shows me how. GTT

Sounds cool, since you aren't going to lower it I would probably run 235/70/15 and 275/60/15 on those wheels.

Re: New Here...need advice on wheels/ tires combo

Wouldn't the front wheels look tall & skinny and the rears look short & wide? I had done some research and found a pic of one with 245/60 r15s on front & 275/60 r15s on the rear. I want it to look good and have a classic, yet tough look. My dad will never go for lowering it. Thanks. GTT

Re: New Here...need advice on wheels/ tires combo

Those tires will look kinda short at stock height. Here is 275/60/15 on 15x10's at stock height.

this is a 255/60 on a 15x8 an 275/60 on a 15x10 with a 2.5/4 drop..

This truck has the heavy half package as well which does make it a little higher than a normal 1/2 ton...

Thank you both. I actually like the look of the first truck with those tires. I'm thinking that's the way I wanna go.

Ya,but I didn't read it right.I thought you had 8s on the front.Still looks good though... I know some think different, but that set up is still the best look for there trucks, not big wheels...maybe with a little drop.Factory stance looks good though..IMO.
