AC Line crimping

Not sure where to post this question (Admin move if required)

Can I crimp an AC line using a hydraulic line crimper (have the correct size of die)? From what I see they have different crimp patterns. What PSI do a AC system put out?

Re: AC Line crimping

I've seen about 260 to 300 psi with my guage on the high side pressure. Low side I think runs about 45 psi if I remember right. Don't know about the crimp. I'd imagine if it can seal hydraulic pressures( Much greater) it can seal AC pressures. Older chevy AC lines were sealed with band clamp type hose clamps. Good luck. Jim.

Re: AC Line crimping

I would say you probably can. Max pressure with R134 could be 500psi in extreme situations.

Re: AC Line crimping

I've cut my hoses off the lines before. There is a mix of beadlock and barbed fittings.

I have a Mastercool hydrakrimp so I can easily do both kinds.
