Interior Install Help

This is my order for my Silverado and the strap that you pull the door closed with comes in Black and my Interior is Red, My question is what do you use to paint this plastic interior parts? Does someone make the paint or stain?
Also how hard is it to install the new carpet?
Can one person replace the bumpers, Or do I need someone to help?
I'm sure there will be a lot more questions.

Thanks Guys
Jack

Re: Interior Install Help

SEM has prducts to paint the interior parts,
It is pretty easy to install the carpet, just remove seat, seta belts, kick panels, and rocker panel trim peices, most after market carpet is preshaped so it should drop right in, then just replace everything. One tip install the bolts for the seat and set belts, makes it easy find the bolt holes to cut holes in the carpet for the bolts to go through.

This is the paint I used for my interior parts.

Carpet is easy to install, one tip, after you remove the seat and seat belts reinstall the bolts to find were to cut the holes, makes it alot easy.

With a good floor jack you should be able to install bumpers with one person, Just install most of the brackets, and put a towel on the floor jack so you dont scratch the chrome.

Re: Interior Install Help

SEM is the way to go.

Easy to use, it covers well, just prep & clean your pieces very well before painting.

Re: Interior Install Help

Oh and as far as the carpet... get the carpet out of the box and laying flat as soon as you get it. Then if possible lay it out in the sun some too.
You may have to trim the carpet a little on the side by the door sills so just be careful not to trim too much.

I just did all new interior (including painting with SEM Paint & new carpet) in my 76 so you might flip thru the first few pages of this thread for a few pics.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=569216

Re: Interior Install Help

havent replaced my rear bumper, but the front bumper i just sat on the ground like im going to do a sit up(without laying my upper half down) go to bolts in and nuts just finger tight. then went from there. took me about 15 minutes to take old one and off and put new one on. im redoing my interior too. found rock auto had better prices.

Re: Interior Install Help

Does Rockauto have interior parts?

Also, to the OP. Your pic looks good, but 2 things you might consider:

1. Did they ever come up with a fix, or an update, for those door pull straps? If not, consider that in the end, they will end up just like that old ones. Broken and dilapidated. You might want to just get the delete panel.

2. If you can afford it, and it looks like you can, get your carpet installed at an auto-upholstery shop. It was recommended to me here, that I should do that instead of getting a pre-cut pile. Or whatever they call it. You never can get the pre-cut stuff to lay down like factory, and the upholstery shop will get it all perfect. I too used AAC carpets from my truck, and now I wish I hadn't.

3. Don't waste your time with Coverlay brand dash covers. I've tried them, they don't work. They do not make them large enough for you to ever get them to fit right on a typically old, cracked, warped dash. I know you just got one of those carpet ones, but eventually everybody starts looking for a better looking alternative.

Connor is the best. He did two interiors for me that I mailed to him in California from me in Edmonton, Canada.

I 100% vouch for him.

Re: Interior Install Help

Does anyone know If the interior colors that you order from LMC are original to that year? My interior is a Burgundy color but I notice the color is listed as Red on the order form.

You've got to be careful with LMC. Sometimes its bang on, sometimes its off by a lot. And they'll sell you the wrong color and tell you its the right one, in order to try and convince you its right, and that you should just buy it. They'll sell only 3 different colors of something, for example, and claim that those 3 colors are correct and will match your truck. Wrong. For me, LMC is a last resort. They're not nearly as customer oriented as some of the other ones out there.
