Question Ignition starter switch HELP!!

So i took off the ignition starter switch but i wasnt paying attention on where the rod actually went. if someone could tell me where it goes (under or the side) it would really help!! stuck here trying to figure it out but i cant. the rod goes passed the hole on the bottom of the switch i tried to bring it up but failed and then i tried the side but the rod doesnt turn sideways, so please help!!

Re: Ignition starter switch HELP!!

Here some pics on why im confused the bottom on the old switch only has one hole which on the new one it has a rectangle of where that hole is. and the second picture is the side which the rod does not want to turn sideways to fit.. need help
