Question Replacement engine is suirting oil out of a port behind the distributor cap?

Hi all,

I have a 65 GMC that I put a late 60s 283 into. It is ready to fire and wants to start. Before I fully commit and possible ruin the engine, I have an issue. The oil squirts rapidly out of a port on the engine right behind the distributor. I do not want to commit thinking something may be clogged and I do not know what this port is. The oil squirts against the firewall and straight down off of the transmission. I am thinking something is not hooked up correctly or this needs to run to the valve covers or is blowing off pressure because of a clog.

Can someone help me out with this issue?

Thanks,
Mark

It sounds like it might be the port for the original oil pressure line. If you'be gone to an electric oil pressure sensor, you can cap that port off.

I agree....it sounds like the oil pressure sender/line port.
