anyone running an overdrive trans and 4.56s?
I just swapped in a 200-4r trans into my truck and a gear locker but kept the 3.08s. I have drove it about 160 miles since the swap. the 383 has enough torque to pull it in 4th gear with torque converter locked but its at 1300-1400rpms. the truck is driven mostly city miles. I live 5 miles from my work and about 10 miles from the grocery store. it will never get on the interstate. I have some 4.56s from my old truck and thought about throwing them in. I have 255/45/20s on there which equals a 29.4" tire. rpms at 60 would be around 2100. that's better than running a th350 and 3.08s.
what are your opinions and personal experience? |

I did with an 07 GMC with the 4.8, and it worked great for my truck.
My concern with yours it that it will be a burn out machine, but your city mileage would be very good. |

Re: anyone running an overdrive trans and 4.56s?
I have a 91 CCSWR4X4 with a 350 and the 4l80e /4.56. Tire size 235/85R16.
The best way I can describe it; it likes going 57 mph. It will do 65.. but it doesnt like to. It seems that the sweet spot is right at 57. You would be happier tradeing the 4.56 with an off road guy for some 4.11's |

I put a set in a 99 3/4 ton once. It had a stock 350, pulled like crazy with those gears.
