Stepside Fuel Filler Neck
I have the opportunity to do a stepside conversion on my 87 swb fleet. I found the perfect 84 stepside bed to do the swap but the guy does not have the fuel filler necks for it. I've been searching high and low on LMC, Brothers, Classic Parts, etc. for stepside filler necks and no one seems to sell them. Does anyone know where I can find/buy them. I want to still use the fuel doors on the stepside fender and I dont want to buy this stepside bed if I can't find the correct fuel filler necks for it. Thanks in advance!

I just did a stepside conversion myself. I wound up using the fleet side metal fill tube with some cutting and welding. Then I cut the fleet side rubber hose and inserted a section of the metal fill tube that I had removed. This allowed me to turn the ends of the rubber hose a bit and get it all lined up. A bit of work but it fills well, looks pretty sanitary and didnt cost anything beyond a pair of hose clamps out of my hose clamp bucket.

Similar problem, about five years ago I wanted to add a second tank... I have the tank in and plumbed but I still cant find the driver side parts to run a filler neck through the stepside fender.

OP, I bet he has the filler necks still attached in there (or just get that whole bed), I bet it would be worth the email and the drive.
But, those fenders are exactly what I'm looking for. Too bad it's a 20 hour drive, I don't thinks that's gonna happen any time soon. |
