Who loves to camp with their ole square body?

This guy! Anyone else enjoy looking around at all the brand new trucks in the state campgrounds and still appreciate these old work horses we drive? I get many smiles from guys who maybe fondly remember owning one. At any rate, love summer camping with my square in Northern MI

Here is my old '85 K30 and '70 Aristocrat, neither of which I have anymore. I admit it was overkill but it worked. Now I have a '78 K5 and a tent but the kids still love it.

I enjoy hauling the camper with the 3/4 ton:

Even the C10 gets to have some fun every now and then:

This was awesome when I was a kid. But these days, I have to ask. What' the appeal? Do you guys plan a fishing trip at the same time?

For me the appeal is to get the hell away from civilization and people…Fishing is often just a side dish to the getaway if I end up somewhere water exists. I have a demanding job where quiet time in the boonies is needed often to recharge my batteries. I do at least one or two 7 to 9 day long distance trips to the Desert Southwest every year. It is a great feeling to get out there in the middle of gods country and not see a single sole outside of our party for days on end. Can also be a scary deal if you have any vehicle issues (A dependable vehicle is a must). You can’t go many places in the US outside of Alaska and the Desert Southwest where it total solitude can be found. Too dang many people in this country!

Re: Who loves to camp with their ole square body?

I spent last weekend in my '84 primered 3/4 ton nestled between a '12 Dodge, and an '10 F350. of the three, which do you think was cooking with hot coals and a dutch oven right in the bed of the pickup?

X1000, couldn't have said it better! TO GET AWAY FROM PEOPLE, to not see anybody while your out there, and the downtime with the family is awesome too.just wish we could, like you, go on more then 2 main trips a year, although we try to squeeze whatever weekend in we can.
if you ever go to Alaska DirtyLarry, stop & check out some of B.C., we still have lots of places you can get lost in 20 minutes
