Brake help?

We have a 1986 c60 bus we use for hauling pigs. well actually, as back up. Anyways, it has been parked for some time, and the last time it was driven chunks of pad were falling off. I have the tires off on the one side, and the little bolt taken out of the retainer plate thing, but I cant get it loose enough to slide it out. How have you guys gotten these apart in the past? It is rusted right up.
Thanks for any help, sorry for the length.

Re: Brake help?

Justin, do you have any pics? Might give us some ideas as to which axle (as in model) you are working on.

Re: Brake help?

I looked up the brakes online. It has bendix dual 2.88" piston brakes. As far as pics, It is all put back together. I figured out how to take it apart in theory, but even with heat and pb blaster it wouldn't budge. This is on a school bus converted to haul pigs, and we decided that after taking a look at other issues, the bus wasn't worth the price of the fixes. Besides, it has a 8.2 detroit diesel 'fuel pincher' which is pretty gutless, abd ptobably the reason my Dad retired this one to backup.

Re: Brake help?

Guess you cant save them all. Sometimes those older farm trucks can be a bear to work on. Depending how they were used. At least you still have scrap value.
