Nip Tuck my Truck

I was curious if anyone has mounted a 60-66 body on a late model truck frame and running gear. I know a lot of diehards probably think this is cannibolism. I see it as a little plastic surgery for the old girl (66 GMC 4000). Anyone seen one and if so how much custom fab did it take to make it work. I have looked over the forums but not finding a lot of 2 ton customs.

Never done it but you can do anything with the right tools and a creative mind... I personally love the idea make a thread with some pics of ur body and chassis and I'm sure all on here will pitch in helpful ideas

Not to be an a$$ but this question is asked quite frequently. I always recommend against it.....BTDT. There really is not anything to gain from the massive amount if work necessary. There are several threads about this.

Just keep your original frame and upgrade your suspension, brakes, steering and drivetrain with the later model components.

I have to agree with the Captain and I don't have a quarter of the skill that he has. Every thread that I've read about starting a project like this, always ends with the owner giving up.

To put it in perspective; I was one of the people asking the folks (Captain Fab included of course!) about doing something of this nature for a diesel swap.

The guys above are all correct, you'd usually end up with a "Better" truck by adding the best components from the aftermarket to get all those features you want, and still end up in the same budget wise. As a bonus you can customize anything you like or don't like along the way.

There are a few cases where the late model running gear would be worth it, imho those would be the rare case of someone doing something like a super-late model diesel/allison swap on the 1 ton chassis, dual rear wheels etc. My only reason being that if you wanted to go that big, the stock chassis would be so far from sufficient you'd have to swap or build up the frame anyway.

^^Best example of this I can thing of is the UFC's Matt Hughes' truck. IIRC its a 65 pickup put onto the 2006ish Duramax/Allison chassis.
