Trailing arms rusted out

The trailing arms on my '67 C20 are just about all rust. I can fabricate just about anything but I'd like to hear what others have done.

I thought of copying the original but with 3" channel back to back. Also thought of using pipe.

There are nice looking after market arms made of rectangular tubing but they are more than I want to spend. If anyone has these I'd like to know the tubing size.
