Well it looks like I'm going to that big auction up there, and I may take my trailer, I might need a place to park it, I was trying to think ahead. I know Trevor is going anyone else?

I will be there. I called the golf coarse next door for a parking spot. Their number is 402-329-4834. They are using the driving range for reserve parking. They are keeping 50 spots for trucks with trailers. I was told it is about a 3 min walk to the auction in the next field. It is $25 a day or $50 for all three days. The parking at the auction will be first come basis and no parking on the road. They said there will be pay parking at fairgrounds with a shuttle. I thought having a guaranteed spot where I could come and go was a bargain. I booked mine on 8/15 and I was #35 out of 50. We should all exchange cell numbers in case any of us need a hand or want to get together.

I am planning on going but can only get rooms 80 miles away. Not that big of deal. Day 1 sale list is up now.a few of 67/72s and lots of 62ish trucks.

Can't wait to hear how it goes, I saw a story about it on the NBC nightly news one night last week, going to to be a lot of people there from all over the world. They have really done a good job of putting the word out.

I wanted to ride up there, but it falls on a day I have to work. They had an auction in Hastings that was similar to it, same auction company. I heard the cars went for premium price.

We got rooms in Yankton, SD, 60 miles north of Pierce. I'm not planning on buying anything but taking trailer just in case, its 5 hours from me and I don't want to have to make another trip up there

I'm thinking there will be some big money spent, just want to check out all the trucks and cars. Its kind of a once in life time thing, IMO.

I'm going with trailer but plan to drive it each day and leave the trailer at a friends place. There is nothing for fast food but a couple of convience stores in Pierce and I would bet cell service will be next to impossible out there. But then traffic each morning could be lined up a long ways too. This should be very interesting how all these thousands of people will get into such a remote place and survive the weekend. Lets hope the weather is nice too.
I'm more worried how many days it will take to get a trailer in there loaded and not have anything stolen or damaged on the purchase or my tow rig with 500 cars sold that most are non rollers. They said they would have a forklift available to load for a charge but I also see lots of forklift damage been done to them already.

I looked at all of the pics on the website, the other day. It was a real downer, to see so many brand new cars and trucks, pretty much reduced to junk, from mother nature. I think there will be a lot of disappointed people who show up, expecting to see 50 brand new, pristine survivors, as well as low mile trade ins. Usually when you hear "low mileage", you get a picture in your mind, that doesn't quite match the pictures of the cars.
They've been advertising the auction throughout the entire galaxy, so I bet it will be a circus there!

Does anybody know if we could pitch a tent in "our parking spot" ? It's a 10 hour drive from here exceeding the speed limit and very few restroom breaks. My dream would be, bring a set of tires on 6 lug rims, a battery and my tools and drive one of those '64s home!! Ok, I know that ain't gonna happen but a guys gotta have dreams.......

Ok...so i answered my own question. I called and got a spot, he was fine with me staying there all weekend, said others are also planning on it. His name was Bill, hell of a nice guy, said when the hotel folks pull out for the evening it should be pretty peaceful.

I'm seriously considering making the trip, it's about a 10 hour ride for me. I have no interest in buying overpriced junkyard cars, but it would be a sight to see. Plus I love a good road trip.

Online descriptions and pics show a few of our trucks were popular with thieves also. Surprised there wasn't more of that. One thing I noticed, I haven't seen any 4x4s yet. Although the listing didn't look complete yet. Pondering going just to witness some time capsules..

A friend and I are considering the trip too but he's a last minute type due to his job so idk yet. I'd imagine every hotel for miles around is booked solid so might just have to sleep in a tent by the car or in the car itself lol. Looks to be about 12- 13 hour drive.
