Finally painted - 1971 swb
20 years ago, I bought my first, an ochre 71 lwb. Ever since then I have grown to love these trucks and have been wanting a lowered swb that I could make just the way I wanted.
Marriage, mortgages, and kids have obviously taken priority. But a year and a half ago I found a truck to fix up, and after a lot of sweat, tears and cash I finally got some paint on and it feels awesome. I still have to put it all back together, but just wanted to share some pictures with you fellas. And this site has been great and answered so many questions. Thanks to all the talented and knowledgeable people here, couldn't have got this far without your help. So here she is, some before and after, I call her Mable. http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/...pse775cfeb.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/...pse3215c56.jpg |

Wow! Very nice! That's a color combo that I would have never dreamed would have looked that good together!
Nice work!

I always think when I'm in the junkyard looking at an old rusted out junker that at one that bad boy was new and was somebody's pride and joy. It's hard to imagine that these old rusted out beaters in the junkyard were once being driven to Ma and Pa's house, and to somebody's friend's houses so they could show them off!

Sweet. I think thats how mine is supposed to be painted...not sure if the way you did yours was meant to be factory correct or not. My spid says white/olive green...

Beautiful. Nothing looks better than a factory color combo on these trucks.

Re: Finally painted - 1971 swb
Its true, each old vehicle is unique and has their own story. I love seeing them brought back to life.
My truck is a bit rough/patina'd (still in original paint/interior from the assembly line in 1969) But if I do put paint on her it will be some sort of stock factory color scheme offered on those trucks. I agree, custom colors look great but theres a certain something to those factory paint schemes Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Finally painted - 1971 swb
Ol blue k20, my cousin helped me do the body work and his friend painted it for me. The painter only did it as a favor, he has been painting forever (Vietnam Vet), and did an excellent job.
Everything was done right, but low budget for sure. I hope my new job will give me more time to wrap it up, if it's not 100% done I will probably still bring it. Looking forward to it and my 8 year old can't wait for the meet. Every time I tell her we are going to the store or wherever she asks if we can take the truck. I'm tired of saying "not yet". |
