New fuel level sender only reads 3/8 when full
72 C/20 pickup: 2 months ago I swapped out the old sending unit for a new one. Worked perfectly. I just swapped out the old tank for a new LMC Truck replacement tank. Put the two month old, known good sending unit in the new tank and it appears the float is hanging up on the side of the new tank. That is my assumption anyway. It read anything below 3/8 of a tank properly, but the highest level is 3/8. Any options for addressing this without pulling the SOB out for the third friggin' time?

Re: New fuel level sender only reads 3/8 when full
If you are pretty sure that it's hanging up on the side of the tank, then you will have to pull the sender. I would suggest filling your truck above 3/4 full, roughly of course because you can't tell. Then pull the sender in slightly bend the rod securing the float to a more centered position. If you are positive the sender was reading correctly in the old tank, then it could be your gauge as well. I've personally not had a fuel gauge go bad while still reading accurately below a certain point, but i'm sure stranger things have happened.

Thats what i would do. Move the float around till it will move the full range.

Thanks gang, hoping beyond hope that I didn't need to do it again. Not a huge job, I'm just tired of doing the same one
